Karen Keppler - « back to About Us

Karen brings to Cathedral Group more than 20 years of entrepreneurial experience she gained as the owner of Karen's Flowers and Karen's School of Floral Design; a well known Winnipeg flower shop that also provided private trade school training in floral design and retail flower shop management. As a self employed entrepreneur Karen has provided business concept assessments, business planning services and market research to other entrepreneurs; particularly to the many Self Employment Program participants she has worked with since the inception of the Self Employment Program in Manitoba in 1991.

Karen Keppler was Project Advisor and Self Employment (SE) Coordinator for the Business Development Bank of Canada until 1997. Karen was instrumental in the development of the SE Program in Manitoba at which time she designed the training and counselling components, many of which are still used in Manitoba's SE Program.

In addition to her academic credit of a BA in Administrative Studies she has also achieved a fourth level CGA and completed her MBA in 1999. Karen also earned a Certificate for Office Computer Operations from the University of Winnipeg where she was awarded for outstanding academic achievement.

Karen has a long-standing interest in and remains active with computer user groups and special interest groups that deal with the educational components of computer use, particularly distant education. As a board member of the Winnipeg Library Foundation, Karen has been an advocate of equitable public access for the purpose of education and dissemination of information.

In 1997 Karen formed Cathedral Group, a Management Consulting firm, with Alvin Keppler as her partner.
